Alta, Norway, is quickly evolving as a tourist destination, and features some unique sites to visit. In fact, there are some places of interest for tourists, where there are no alternatives anywhere else in the world! As with the rest of Scandinavia, Alta too is subject to extreme weather, and there will be some places that are only open during a few months of the year.

Alta is a municipality and city in Northern Sami, in the Finnmark county of Norway. Alta is the administrative centre of the region, and is an important cultural and tourist hub of the locality as well. It was awarded city status in 2000.
