Bornholm

Bornholms kunstmuseum Henrik Stenberg-VisitDenmark

This island in the middle of the Baltic Sea, south of Sweden and east of Copenhagen belongs to Denmark. You can imagine the inhabitants to be tough – the weather can be very rough due to its location surrounded by Baltic Sea. This beautiful place is very popular for cycling, sandy beaches and fantastic food. The nature is completely different than that of the rest of Denmark as it has a more ruggy surface and you will see how this beautiful island, visited by 600,000 during the summer, displays an amazing  and varied nature on such a relatively small island.

Throughout the summer holiday a variety of cultural and festive activities take place all over the island. If you have an interest in glassware and ceramics, you can find a huge selection here as many artists locate to Bornholm for some peace and quiet. Take your family to see Ekkodalen (a valley that sounds with an echo  when you talk), Hammershus ruins, lovely picturesque little villages and eat “sol over Gudhjem”  directly from the many smokehouses.
