More about Disco Bay

Greenland, in other words called Kalaallit Nunaat is the largest island in the world and the majority are called Inuits og eskimos. Greenland has a roughness over it but it is tremendously beautiful and is mostly covered with snow and ice, has untouched glaciers and outstandingly unique fjords.

In the summer you can enjoy the views of the Midnight Sun and wintertime Northern Lights, best between mid August and March, as the nights are long and dark and the air clear. Other acitvities to enjoy are whale watching, dog sledding and other excursions to enjoy the beautiful and different nature.

Greenland is part of Denmark but increasinly independent therefrom.

The towns on Greenland are fairly small and Nuuk is the largest one, based on the west coast of Greenland. Nuuk was first found by Hans Egede, the Norwegian explorer while Greenland was under Norwegian/Danish domain.

North Greenland is mostly known for having the best views of the Northern Lights, Midnight sun and dogsledding. This is still the most common way of transport.

West Greenland has the biggest concentration of the population and half ot Greenlands population live here. The total population is a bit less then 60,000. This is the area for the fjords, fjord cruises, whale watching safaris, watching calved ice from the glaciers and kayaking.

East Greenland has the most original way of living than anywhere else on Greenland, being fairly unspoilt, having dialects spoken you seldom hear and the inhabitants live a life far from modern times of living. In the region you can also do sea kayaking, boating safaris, helicopter trips etc as you can enjoy the tranquility and the beautiful nature.

South Greenland has the warmest climate with milder temperatures and is known as the green region of Greenland and you see more from the Viking times than elsewhere. This proves the Norse population settled here or indeed visiting and left influence even 1000 years after.
