The Lahemaa National Park was built in 1971 to promote and protect a harmonious, mutually beneficial, and sustainable relationship between nature and mankind. The park has been built in the two counties of Lääne-Virumaa and Harjumma. Four individual landscape regions can be found in the national park, namely: the Harku Plateau, the North Estonian Coastal Plain, Kõrvemaa, and the Viru Plane.
