The Moscow State Circus Structure
The building of the Moscow State Circus Structure has been spread across five separate arenas. These have been built 18 meters below the floor and can be used interchangeably through the performances as required. The five arenas are categorized into five types, namely the illusionist arena, the water arena, the light effects arena, the ice rink and the equestrian arena. The height of the amphitheatre of the Moscow State Circus auditorium is an impressive 36 meters.
Tracing the History And Evolution Of The Moscow State Circus
Originally the circus complex was intended to simply be a venue for events and performances, but during the early years of the 1990s a formal individual company for the circus was formed, heading by a former circus performer Leonid Kostyuk. As the company evolved, it became a leading establishment in the state and now employed hundreds of performers. The circus tours under the identity of the “Great Moscow State Circus”.
The enterprise is owned and administered by the State, and even though efforts have been made to privatize the establishment, these have been met with severe opposition and were finally put down by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
International Appeal of The Moscow State Circus
The Moscow State Circus has become universally popular, so much so that circus companies that are chosen by Russian authorities tour all around the world under the name of the Moscow State Circus. The beginning of this trend can be traced back to the year 1956 when the moniker ‘Moscow State Circus’ was used by a touring circus company that was visiting London and Paris. The title is now officially used by a touring circus that belongs to the Entertainment Corporation and performs in the United Kingdom.
