An Introduction To

The capital of Poland, Warsaw, is also the largest city in the country. Located on the Vistula River, the city is located around 260 km away from the Baltic Sea. The Carpathian Mountains are nearly 300 km away. In terms of population, Warsaw is the 9th largest city in the European Union.  During the Second World War, around 80% of the buildings in Warsaw were destroyed. Tourism in Warsaw

The city has recently started seeing a good share of tourists coming to visit and spending time here. The Warsaw Convention Bureau provides the necessary information regarding any tourist activity, such as sightseeing, hotels, etc. It is the official tourist information agency in the city. The agency provides useful maps and guidelines to the visitors and a website to present as much information as possible.

A beneficial investment before visiting Warsaw is availing the Warsaw Tourist Card that can be purchased for a period of one or three days, as per the need. The card can get the tourists into museums and other attractions at discounted rates. These cards are available at the tourist agency's offices around the city.

Visiting the Krakowskie Przedmiescie

Krakowskie Przedmiescie is also known as the Kraakow Suburb. It is the most famous attraction of the city and is a must visit for everyone visiting Warsaw for the first time. The attraction is a part of the famous Royal Route in Warsaw that is home to a number of other interesting places. The attractions are lined one after another thus giving the visitors the best opportunity to visit many places in a single go. The road starts out with the Preseidential Palace and is followed by the University of Warsaw. The Visitationist Church and Adam Mickiewicz monument follow the university and precede the rest.

Spend Time at the Warsaw Zoo

The Warsaw Zoo or the Warsaw Zoological Garden is known to house numerous common and many unique species of animals and birds. For each animal in the compound, a unique and separate space has been located. These specialty sections house the likes of Jaguars, Cheetahs, Giraffes, Rhinos, Elephants and Kangaroos. There is also a bird house with a good number of bird species. The aquarium is home to colorful and uncommon fish.

Apart from the obvious pleasures of spending time amidst wild animals, the children can have a gala time at the Fantasy Zoo. This part of the zoo has slides and swings for the children to go wild and chairs and tables for people to sit down and eat. The visitors can get personal with rabbits, goats and a number of other harmless animals.

Enjoying the Warsaw Festival

People of Warsaw like to celebrate a lot. There are a number of festivals that are celebrated with panache and great excitement. The best time to catch a festival is during spring. Four major festivals – ‘Warsaw Carniva’l, ‘Drowning of the Marzanna, Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival’, ‘Palm Sunday’ and ‘Easter Sunday, and Warsaw Ghetto Uprising’ are celebrated in the months of March and April. Other celebrated festivals are: Mozart Festival (June), Warsaw Autumn Festival (September), Warsaw Film Festival (October) and Warsaw Christmas Fair (December).
