For a small country, Estonia has some big opportunities for the spring traveller. Over twice the size of Wales - which still makes it a small country - Estonia has a population of less than 1.7 million. There's plenty of room to explore this Baltic jewel with its 1,500 islands, sandy beaches and extensive forests.
Start in Tallinn, Estonia's capital, sitting on the Baltic Sea just a day trip across from Helsinki, Finland's equivalent. Indeed, Helsinki was originally established to take trade away from Tallinn, an important port of the Hanseatic league in the 14th to 16th Centuries. With less than half a million people, Tallinn is a great walking city, with cobbled mediaeval streets and welcoming restaurants. The birthplace of Skype, Tallinn is not an 'olde worlde' throwback, but a vibrant capital often termed the Silicon Valley of Europe.
Estonia in spring is great for bird-watching and observing mass bird migration with arctic terns, wagtails, golden eagles, warblers and orioles just some of our avian friends on display.
Spring is usually mild and May brings the first of the heat waves. With over 2,000 miles of coastline, there are plenty of beaches and coastal walks to savour as you experience the warm welcome that Estonia lays on for its guests.
We know Estonia and we will take you there.
