Estonia: walking the walk

From Tallinn to Parnu and to the island of Kasssari, walking and hiking is a national pastime in Estonia. With the longest trail being 820 kilometres, you will never be short of paths to follow.

Try an orchid tour in Saare county, where the local expert will take you on a hunt for these exotic flowers as you try and spot the 36 different varieties which inhabit the meadows and grasslands of this area.  This three hour walk is great for children and bring a picnic for your lunch.

Or experience the smoke sauna tradition of Southern Estonia on a trek through Voru county, including the sacred site of Vallamagi. where the ground fumes and the air is pure.

The island of Kassari is pure wilderness, as you reach its furthest point, the Prassi Tip, on the Tagukula islets, walking through shallow water and junipers with an array of wild birds to observe.
