Amazing views will take your breath away, as you drive along mountain roads and by the riviera. Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Tivat – Niksic (~110 km)
Arrive in Tivat airport and make your way towards Niksic, Montenegro’s second largest city. Today’s recommended highlights are Lake Slano, an artificial lake with sparkling blue waters, Ostrog Monastery, Crvena Stijena Archaeological Site, Bedem Fortress, and the Emperor Bridge. Overnight in Niksic.
Day 2: Niksic – Durmitor National Park (~80 km)
After breakfast, make your way to Durmitor National Park, formed by glaciers and protected by UNESCO since 1980. Explore the deepest gorges in Europe along the Tara River. Popular activities in the national park include hiking, skiing, rafting, fishing and other outdoor activities. Overnight in Durmitor area.
Day 3: Durmitor National Park at leisure
A full day to spend in this beautiful national park with mountainous nature at its best. Why not add a rafting tour, guided hike or even canyoning? For the more adventurous, we can arrange a guided hike to the summit of Obla Glava peak (2,303 m), exploring the Ledena Pecina ice cave along the way. Overnight in Durmitor area.
Day 4: Biogradska Gora National Park – Podgorica – Budva (~220 km)
Start your day exploring Biogradska Gora National Park, home to one of the last remaining primeval forests in Europe and five high altitude glacial lakes. Continue along this beautiful landscape towards the capital, Podgorica, where you can spend some time exploring the city before heading south. On your way to Budva, we recommend Lake Skadar National Park along the Albanian border and medieval monasteries in the area. Overnight in Budva.
Day 5: Budva at leisure
Explore Budva’s old town and historic monuments, including the monasteries of Stanjevici, Podostrog, Rezevici & Gradiste and the churches of Sv. Trojica, Sv. Ivan, Sv. Bogorodica & Sv. Sava. If luck is on your side, enjoy a local performance in the city theatre, as many shows are performed during the summer months. With 17 beaches along a 21 km coast, Budva is known for having one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines. Overnight in Budva.
Day 6: Lovcen – Kotor (~135 km)
Start your day by visiting Lovcen National Park, where you will find Mt Lovcen, the black mountain from which Montenegro’s name comes. Don’t miss the shrine of Petar II Petrovic Njegoš with its excellent panoramic views to Albania and Croatia. We recommend having lunch in the Ivanova Korita area of the national park. Arrive in Kotor in the afternoon and explore the old town. Overnight in the bay of Kotor.
Day 7: Kotor at leisure
A full day to spend in the wonderful town of Kotor and its surroundings. Climb all 1,350 steps up to St. John’s fortress, visit the abandoned village of Gornji Stoliv or cruise around Boka Kotorska. Other highlights include Kotor Cathedral, Our Lady of the Rocks and Sveti Dorde islands. Overnight in the bay of Kotor.
Day 8: Departure (~10 km)
Make your way to Tivat airport and drop off your rental car, before checking in for your return flight
