Overview:
This is a once in a lifetime Arctic adventure, far removed from civilization, a breathtaking holiday in Svalbard. You will see Arctic wildlife such as reindeer and Arctic fox, and if you are lucky, a glimpse of the King of the Arctic, the polar bear.
Your accommodation is situated on the outermost part of the Isfjord on the beautiful Nordenskiöld coast framed by the majestic Svalbard Mountains and overlooking the open sea. The radio station has charming and cosy rooms, a lounge with a fireplace and a unique and extremely interesting history.
Due to flight schedules to and from Longyearbyen some departures may require a stopover in Oslo.

Tour Itinerary:
Day 1 (Fixed departures Mondays and Fridays):
Arrival Longyearbyen, airport shuttle bus to Basecamp Hotel.
Our guide will meet you in the reception of your hotel at 17:00 pm. You will get information about the trip, equipment and outfit details. Transport to the quay, where our polarcirkel boat is ready to start the safari tour towards Isfjord Radio. On the way, we have time to enjoy the fantastic fjord scenery, animal wildlife and Arctic seabirds. We spend the afternoon exploring the great area of Kapp Linné, and learn more about the wildlife at the station. We’ll be served a 3-course dinner in the evening. Accommodation in comfortable double rooms at Isfjord Radio.
Day 2:
Breakfast is served from 8.00 am. After the breakfast we’ll board the boat for an exciting safari to the west side of the fjord. The route will go towards east along the coastline before crossing Isfjorden at Kapp Starostin and go straight to the mighty bird cliffs of Alkehornet with thousands of nesting birds. In Trygghamna we go ashore and enjoy expedition lunch at the beach. After lunch, we’ll have a closer look at the area before heading to the fantastic Esmark Glacier in Ymerbukta. If we are lucky, we might observe whales, seals or even get a glimpse of “king of the Artic”, the polar bear. In the evening a 3-course dinner is served at the restaurant at the Isfjord Radio. Day 3:
Breakfast is followed by a new day of adventure. After breakfast we say goodbye to and pack our bags and head to the boat. We go to Grønfjorden and the Russian settlement Barentsburg. Barentsburg is a mining city with approx. 350 residents
and a fascinating place to visit. We go ashore and take a tour around town before light lunch is served in the brewery. After lunch we head back to the boat and set course towards Longyearbyen. We make several interesting stop along the way. We are back in Longyearbyen during the afternoon.

Day 4:
Breakfast in the Traveler's Club at the hotel. The morning is free to explore the city of Longyearbyen, visit the interesting polar museum or do some souvenir shopping. In the afternoon transfer to Bolterdalen where you will meet 80 excited Alaskan Huskies. The guide teaches how to harness the dogs and after assembling your own team, head off for summer-sledding on wheels for some hours. If you want to “upgrade” this tour, we can include a trappers’ dinner at the husky kennel (supplement). Return transfer to your hotel and rest of the evening at leisure.
Day 5:
Breakfast at the Hotel. You have the morning on your own before departure to the airport with the public shuttle bus.
Day 1: Arrival in Longyearbyen and Isfjord Radio
Arrival by flight from mainland Norway to Longyearbyen, airport shuttle bus to Basecamp Hotel. Today you can explore Longyearbyen, the northernmost permanent settlement in the World.

Day 2: Longyearbyen - Isfjord Radio
Breakfast at the hotel and morning to explore Longyearbyen.
At 15:00 you will be picked up from Basecamp Hotel for your 2-night’s stay at the Isfjord Radio. We recommend that you only bring one bag on the trip, as the storage space on the boat is limited. Other luggage can be stored at Basecamp hotel in Longyearbyen.
At 15:30 we welcome you onboard Isfjord Ekspressen. We travel westwards on Isfjorden with a steady course towards Cape Linné. Your hosts will be ready to welcome you upon your arrival at Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel.
From 17:00 – 18:30 in the afternoon, your hosts will take you on a station walk upon arrival to learn more about the fascinating history of this unique destination. Spend the last hours of the day in the warm sauna situated on the sea cliff and enjoy a view that makes you forget about time and place. Who knows what kind of wildlife will swim by the sauna tonight?
At 19:30 an Arctic inspired menu is served in the dining room. Please advise if you have any food allergies that we need to keep in mind for the meals during the trip.

Day 3: Full day hike at the Isfjord Radio (Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Sun)
After a good night’s sleep, you will wake up to a view you will remember forever. Enjoy your morning coffee or tea with a panoramic view of Cape Linné bird sanctuary. Breakfast is served in the dining room.
Today join your Isfjord Radio guide on one of our favourite tracks along the old radio poles of the station given three optional route and activity alternatives. The hike will be approximately 10-16 km long depending on route and takes around 6 hours.
Once back in the hotel, it is time to relax or go for an Arctic swim. A 4-couse dinner will be served in the evening. We often gather around the bonfire for a refreshment when the wind favorable. A real gem of the Isfjord experience!

Day 4: RIB boat to bird cliffs and glacier, return to Longyearbyen (Tue, Thu, Sat)
Many of us have the Big Five of Svalbard on our bucket list, and Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel is the perfect location to come across several of the animal species on this list. Keep your eyes open for walrus, polar bear, seal, arctic fox and the curious Svalbard reindeer.
Breakfast is served in the dining room and today join the RIB boat safari to Alkehornet Birdcliff and Esmark Glacier. A wide fjord opens at 78°N on the west coast of Spitsbergen. Looking north you will see the distinct sailing mark Alkhornet. Looking south you will find Isfjord Radio Adventure Hotel, your home far away from home. Isfjorden is a gigantic fjord complex with cultural monuments from all Svalbard’s historical periods. Hop on our Polarcircle boat and explore the glaciers and characteristic mountains, bird- and wildlife that is conspicuous with great activity and traffic of nesting birds.

At 17:00 return to Longyearbyen with Isfjord Ekspressen.

Day 5: Departure from the Arctic
