Skiing in Norway
Let's start with the crazy bit: a ski centre 20 minutes outside Oslo where you can view the city lights while schussing down a black run. Take the free to ride - if you bring your own sledge - Korketrekkeren (it means corkscrew) bobsleigh run which starts and ends on the Oslo metro system and decant yourself onto the Oslo Vinterpark. Open until 10.00 p.m., this may be the perfect way to shake the rust off your skis while enjoying the vibrant capital of the oft neglected Scandanavian jewel that is Norway. Proper food and great hot chocolate with 10 km. of runs from bone-shaking to nerve-calming. For boarders, this centre held the World Snowboarding Championships in 2012.
Next take the children to Trysil, one of the most family friendly resorts in Europe. With 40 lifts and 70 kilometres of runs, there's a piste to suit every standard of skier and plenty of off-piste activity for the more adventurous. For the non-skiers, there is dog sledding; sleigh rides and ice fishing, with 30 different eating establishments. Just two hours from Oslo Airport, Trysil will wow all the family.
Hemsedal is considered by some to be the best ski resort in Norway. With 20 lifts and 50 slopes, this small village in the Alpine environment half way between Oslo and Bergen has a wide range of runs and you can pop over to the neighbouring centre of Solheisen if you "run out".
We know Norway and we will take you there.
