Weekend Breaks in Sweden
Sweden is ideal for a Weekend Break, with direct flights to many cities and countryside right on the doorstep. Whether you choose summer in Stockholm, cutting-edge cuisine in Gothenburg or film noir in Malmo, Sweden will not disappoint.
Stockholm, the Venice of the North, sits on 14 islands and 50 bridges. Explore the Gamla Stan (Old Town) on foot and find yourself in a land still evoking scents of sailing ships, Vikings and history dating back to the 6th millennium B.C. A city has stood here since the 13th century and a visit to the world-famous Vasa Museum will take you through all its past. The Stockholm Metro is known as the world's longest art gallery; the Stockholm Palace still provides an office for the ruling monarch and the Drottingholm Palace contains one of the last original baroque opera theatres in the world.
Gothenburg is renowned for its leafy avenues and cafe-lined canals. With half the population of its bigger brother, Stockholm, Gothenburg tries harder to welcome the visitor and succeeds magnificently. An archetypal port city, Gothenburg will enthral you with its amusement park, the Liseburg; the vast science centre which is the Universeum and the Botanical Garden, with a great cafe included.
We know Sweden and we will take you there.

Stockholm is a fantastic Northern city, worth visiting summer and winter: just dress for the weather. The city boasts attractions situated within a very short distance so you can easily walk or cycle and see the King's Castle near the Old Town. Stockholm has amazing views of the waterside from many locations. The architecture, art, culture and Now-Nordic gourmet on offer is truly outstanding. In the summer the Midnight Sun or in the winter go skating in the city centre.

More about Weekend Breaks in Sweden
Smaller still, with a population of just over 300,000, Malmo punches above its weight cinematically, as the eastern end of the famous Oresund bridge, where dark deeds are uncovered by taciturn Scandinavian detectives. Away from the fiction, Malmo will charm the discerning visitor with a cobblestoned Old Town; cafes and bars with welcoming locals and a 16th century fortress, built by the neighbouring Danes. For 21st architecture, look no further than the Turning Torso, a neo-futurist block which is the tallest in Sweden. Designed to replace the Kockums Crane, an historic symbol of Malmo's ship-builidng roots, the Turning Torso is based on a sculpture by its Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava, and houses 147 apartments. The eventual cost of this iconic building was twice the original estimate and the owner has tried to sell it - unsuccessfully - twice, but it is beautiful!
