Walking on Iceland
Iceland is half the size of the United Kingdom with roughly 63 million less people, so there is a vast amount of unpopulated space for the intrepid walker and hiker to explore. The scenery is breath-taklng, with high waterfalls; active volcanoes; black sand beaches; mountains and glaciers, not to mention hot springs and rivers to swim and laze in.
Iceland's south coast can provide easy to moderate walking between the twin glaciers of Eyjafjallajokull, with its very own waterfall, Skogafoss, and Europe's largest glacier, Vatnajokull. Skogafoss has buried treaure beneath, according to local legend, that can only be found by a local boy with a very special diet. It has a 60 metrre single drop and a path to the cave behind this massive torrent, if you don't mind getting wet.
If volcanoes are your preferred destination, then the Laugavegur Highland Trail is for you. This 55 kilometre trekking route takes you from the hotsprings area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Porsmork. You will encounter surging mudpools and volcanic ash as you discover the famous Eyjafjallajokull volcano. A real walk on the wild side.
We know Iceland and we will take you there.
