Lithuania Trips & Holidays

Before Lithuania holidays became commonplace, it was once only known as a small country ruled a vast empire. Lithuania is rich in history and culture - visitors spending their holidays there will be enchanted by the scenery and how warm and outgoing the local people are.
Though it has a modern day population of less than 3 million, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania was once the largest country in Europe, so if booking Lithuania holidays be sure to explore its vast landscape and tag along to some tours.

More about Lithuania Trips & Holidays
Through the BBC programme 'The Hairy Bikers Northern Exposure' and the more recent screening of ‘War and Peace’ we were re-introduced to our colourful neighbours from the Baltics. The Hairy Bikers served up the splendour of Baltic culture, history, architecture and, last but not least, traditional Baltic cuisine. The programme showed us all there is to know about comfort food from across the Baltic Sea region.
A trip to Lithuania, with its coastal region on the Baltic Sea and borders with Poland and Latvia, offers great traditional dishes with fresh fish and sea food, alongside wonderfully coloured salads and pickled condiments drawing on Russian and Polish influences.
If you watched War and Peace on BBC, here you have the chance to visit the War and Peace film locations, including the battle fields and scenes shot in Vilnius. Contact us to follow in the footsteps of War and Peace.
Vilnius is the capital and largest city in Lithuania, and one of the most popular areas for Lithuania holidays. It was one of the biggest cities in Eastern Europe in the 16th century and today it boasts a beautiful Baroque Old Town, one of the largest in Europe. It is situated in the southeast corner of the country, near the Belarus border, on the banks of the Neris River.
Since Lithuania was the first Soviet Republic to declare independence in 1990, Vilnius has changed to a modern city without losing the style associated with its long history.
Vilnius offers an Old Town with buildings restored in a beautiful manner; a 13th Century Cathedral, dedicated to Saints Stanislaus and Ladislaus and on the UNESCO World Heritage List; centuries of history and culture to explore and all within a city which has all the modern experiences and facilities the demanding traveler could desire.
Moving away from Vilnius, a visit to the Hill of Crosses is essential. Located about 150 miles northwest of Vilnius, is a small hill where many hundreds of thousands of crosses have been placed to represent peaceful resistance to foreign oppression.
We would also recommend the famous Trakai Castle, surrounded by water on an island in Lake Galvé and a major centre of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
Due to its size, Walking tours in Lithuania, or Cycling tours, are all recommended to explore this fascinating country at a more leisurely pace. Walking tours in Vilnius can also be extended into the countryside, should you wish to explore beyond the city, choosing Lithuania holidays would be a wise decision, you'd have a lot to see!
We know Lithuania and we will take you there.

Good evening Inga
Thanks for your e mail.
We had a really good holiday.
In general all your arrangements worked well.
It was 4 new country’s for us and we enjoyed getting to know each of them.
We liked all of the individual locations and we found them all interesting to explore. After some thought we felt that we probable liked Riga the best.
Weather was wonderful for the first few days, up to 30deg, but it became much cooler and wetter for Tallinn and Helsinki.
Hotel in Vilnius was very good and those in Riga and Tallinn were good.
We are not sure what our future plans for holidays are at the moment, but hopefully we will get the chance to talk to you again about other destinations.
Thanks and regards
Derrick & Sheila

Hi Daina. Thanks for your email. Apologies for not writing immediately – I’ve been trying to shake off a cold I picked up in Tallinn.
We missed you in Riga! Hope you had a lovely New Year.
The tour was great, thank you – all the flights and transfers went smoothly and Baltic Vision did a very good job of delivering the tour itself. The English-speaking group was a perfect size and our charming guide, Valdis, was excellent.
Thanks for setting it all up so well, and for sending out such a well-prepared pack of information, Daina. I particularly appreciate how much effort you and the team put into answering my queries.
All the best,
Heather

Hi Daina
Yes, we're back safe and sound.
We would like to say a big "thank you" to you and the team for a holiday that beat all of our expectations! Everything was fantastic and we enjoyed every minute.
Flights, transfers, hotels, tours all worked perfectly. All my 'mobility issues' were fully taken care of. We still can't believe how beautiful all the places are that we visited. The atmosphere in all the squares, bars and restaurants was just great.
Probably drank too much local beer (its all sooo nice) and the Black Balsam was dangerous in a good way!
Anyway, thanks again for organising everything so brilliantly.
Kind Regards
Steve & Angela

Thank you Michael for your message and support. We did enjoy the holiday , despite the long delay and lack of sleep on the first night. I'm not sure what I had expected from the group. It was pleasant but a bit amoeba like in that it kept changing shape, groups coming and going, not really gelling. It was interesting however as the people came from most parts of the globe. I had no idea if the political history of the Baltic lands and found it interesting and sometimes moving. The couriers were good, the girl particularly , as she was Latvian.
Don't know if Myrtle will send her own thoughts. I was glad I was not on my own because of the various schedules.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Hi Inga,
We really enjoyed our trip through the Baltic States. It was an interesting part of the world to visit with so much history and I enjoyed the tales and experiences about the Medieval times.
Below is some feedback and I have attached a few photos.
- The standard of accommodation was good – particularly in Riga.
- We enjoyed the New Year’s Eve Gala night
- The city walking tours were very good and the local guides in each city were outstanding and passionate about their cities.
- The accompanying guide throughout the trip appeared inexperienced, uninterested and uninteresting. However, this did not dampen our experience. (He was from Latvia & called Valdan, or something like that, but we just called his ‘where’s Wally??’)
- Our respective airport transfers did not arrive at our Hotel to collect us for the airport on 5th January so we made our own way to the airport which was very close. (I think my driver thought he was in a James Bond movie the way he was driving J )
Many thanks to you for all of your efforts in putting this trip together for us – it has been greatly appreciated.
Regards
Maria S
