Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Riga

Arrival at Riga airport, where your car is waiting for you.

Head over to Riga Old Town to check in at your hotel, and spend the rest of the day and evening exploring Riga. Latvia, known as "Dzintarzeme" or Amberland, played a significant role as a trading crossroads on the Amber Road, facilitating the transport of Baltic Amber across Northern, Baltic, and Mediterranean Seas during the Middle Ages. You will have a guided 2-hour tour in Rigam and you will visit an amber gallery that sells some of the most impressive pieces.

Day 2: Riga - Jurmala - Sabile - Ventspils

Breakfast at the hotel & check-out.

You will fist stop at Jurmala, the resort town known for its rich architecture, seaside lifestyle, and spas. Visit the town, and the beaches, and then head over to one of the most iconic spas in town, for an 80 min amber treatment Amber contains a succinic acid salt that activates metabolic processes. The salt of succinic acid has an anti-inflammatory effect, it has a positive effect on the thyroid gland. The procedure includes: light body peeling with pieces of amber and fine amber powder, massage with amber stones. Soak up the millions of years of solar energy and leave relaxed! Continue your trip to Ventspils, through Sabile, a small town known for it’s vinyard and scenic area.

Day 3: Ventspils - Pavilosta - Liepaja

After breakfast, visit Ventspils and its many historical spots, including the Ventspils Livonian castle, where you will find a delightful mix of the old and modern. Here, amongst archaeological artifacts, you will also find some amber. Do not miss out on visiting the Ventspils open-air museum as well. You continue by driving to Pavilosta, a place where surfers mix with amber gatherers, After a delightful lunch in one of the authentic and excellent restaurants here, you will go looking for amber with a special guide. (Kindly note that finding amber is not guaranteed, if there has been a storm before your arrival, your chances are much better than by clear weather) After this very special adventure, take the car and drive to Liepaja, '' the city where the wind is born''.

Day 4: Liepaja - Pape - Palanga

Breakfast at the hotel & check-out. 

After breakfast, visit the future culture capital of Europe - Liepaja. This city has a lot to offer - from street art, to concerts, to miltary history, you will not be bored. You will have today a small amber workshop, where you will make a piece of jewellery or cufflinks to take with you. And you will taste a special amber alcohol. A local amber craftsman will teach you everything you need to know about amber and its many uses. For lunch - try a place where tradition and history reign, and pick the crayfish soup made from local and fresh crayfish, like they did in the old days. On your way to Palanga, stop at the Pape nature park, and see the wild horses and auroxen that live there year round.

Day 5: Palanga - Klaipeda - Curonian Spit - Nida

Take a leisurly stroll through Palanga, towards the Palanga Amber Museum. The museum is situated in the magnificent palace in the centre of Birute Park, and is one of the most visited museums in Lithuania, as it hosts one of the largest collections of amber in the world - about 30,000 exhibits. You will then head to Klaipeda, and visit this charming town, that is also one of the oldest in Lithuania. Take the ferry, and cross over to the Curonian Spit. The Curonian Spit is a thin peninsula with dunes, beaches, fishing villages, pretty trails and more. It is a must-visit spot in Lithuania! You will drive through the villages on a scenic route, and reach Nida, where you will stay overnight. You are free to explore Nida and relax - wether you go see the Nida amber museum, or explore the surrounding nature, you will enjoy every minute.

Day 6: Nida - Kaunas - Trakai - Vilnius

Breakfast at the hotel & check-out.

It is time to leave the little paradise that the Curonian Spit represents. You take the ferry back to Klaipeda, and drive to Kaunas. Kaunas is a captivating destination due to its vibrant cultural events and festivals that showcase the city's rich heritage and contemporary creativity, and is a must see spot in the country. Be sure to visit the Pažaislis Monastery complex, which is the largestmonastery complex in Lithuania. After your visit, and on your way to Vilnius, stop at Trakai, to see a one of a kind Medieval gem, surrounded by a lake and romantic boats. After arriving in Vilnius - a 2 hour walking tour will take you to the main and must see spots. After that - you have a free evening to explore and discover.

Overnight in Vilnius.

Day 7: Vilnius - Šiauliai - Rundale - Riga

Breakfast at the hotel & check-out. 

The last part of this trip takes you on a more classical route back to Riga. First stop - the Hill of Crosses in Šiauliai, that is a site of pilgrimage where thousands of crosses and religious symbols have been placed over generations, symbolizing faith, resistance, and national identity. As you cross back into Latvia, you continue your cultural exploration at Rundale Palace, a baroque gem unlike any in the Baltic states. Do not miss out on the French gardens.

Finally, you make your way back to Riga, and have a free evening & overnight in Riga.

Day 8: Departure

Breakfast at the hotel & check-out. You have a free day to explore Riga, return the car to the airport, and takea plane back home.

Car Rental

You can rent a car, as long as you have a valid EU or international driver's license. Most cars will have manual transmission.

Transportation

Railway mostly serves domestic routes and is used as an easy and quick way to get from the capital to major cities of the country. There are some international routes, like to Moscow and St. Petersburg, but time spent on the way will be quite long.

Buses are one of the most convenient ways to travel between the Baltic States. Eurolines will get you between Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn. One way tickets will cost £ 15 - £ 20 and approximate travel time is 5 hours between the cities. Ticket reservations in advance are recommended.

Taxis are the quickest and most convenient way of travelling round the city. You'll find them located close to the main hotels. Usually it's quite easy to catch a taxi on the street, however, it's much better and safer to order one by phone. Taxi costs in all of the Baltic countries and Poland are approximately the same and a ride in the centre of the city will cost you approx £ 5 - £ 7.  Taxis in Finland and Russia are considerably more expensive.  It is always a good idea to get your hotel to book a taxi for you and ask approximately how much the trip will cost before you get in.

We would not recommend you to take public transportation within the city, as it's usually crowded and it may cause you unnecessary anxiety about where to stop.
