Overview:

This Nordic fly-drive itinerary begins in Denmark and offers peaceful countryside, stunning landscape and beautiful beaches with white sand dunes. The villages, museums and castles throughout the itinerary make this tour one to enjoy! After a few hours by ferry, arrive in the country of the fjords – welcome to Norway! In Norway you will discover splendid nature as well as two of the most important cities, Oslo and Bergen.

Holiday price is from £ 2,495 per person based on availability and two people sharing a standard double/twin room.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Copenhagen

Arrival in Copenhagen and pick up your rent a car.
Welcome to Copenhagen, Denmark’s capital. København in Danish means trading port. Copenhagen is often classified as one of the best cities in the world, due to the high quality of life – even though it is expensive.
Accommodation at First Hotel Kong Frederik.

Day 2: Copenhagen

Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy this day discovering Copenhagen’s long history, and its many delightful attractions and curiosities – you will never run out of things to see or to do. Copenhagen is a modern city that has been able to preserve its ancient charm; for the city is small and cosy, and an ideal way to explore the city is by foot.

Day 3: Copenhagen – Århus (307 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Start your journey travelling towards Roskilde, where you may visit the Viking museum and the famous cathedral, where all the Danish kings and queens are buried. Ferry crossing from Sjællands odde to Ebeltoft (approx. 45 minutes), and continue your journey along the djursland before arriving in Århus, the second largest city in Denmark.

Day 4: Århus – Skagen (223 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive in a northernly direction, passing Randers, Hobro, the forest of Roldskov and the province of Himmerland. Pass Ålborg and continue north until you reach Skagen, a picturesque fishing village. This place is renowned for artists and painters alike.
Accommodation at the cosy Bade Pension Marienlund Hotel.

Day 5: Skagen

Breakfast at the hotel. Today is at leisure to explore Skagen, an international magnet for tourists. In Skagen you can watch two seas meet, experience world-class art, and enjoy the very special atmosphere. The painters and writers were the first to see the light, and Skagen has now been transformed with a brushstroke into a Mecca for artists and bohemians.

Day 6: Skagen – Hovden (258 km)

Breakfast at the hotel before your journey continues past sand dunes to the Norwegian coast. You will drive towards Hirtshals (approx. 50 km) to reach the ferry where you willgo onboard and travel to Kristiansand (approximately 4.5 hours). Continue your tour in the heart of Norway.

Day 7: Hovden - Bergen (325 km)

Breakfast at the hotel, and continue towards your destination, Bergen. Your journey takes you through the Telemark region, as you drive along the Hardangerfjord, known as the 'Garden of Norway'. Arrive in Bergen, a city of world heritage - Bergen opens the door to some of the world’s most beautiful fjords.

Day 8: Bergen

Breakfast at the hotel and enjoy your day at in Bergen. Bergen can best be described as a city with ‘its feet in the water, its head in the clouds and its heart in its hands. Breath in the fresh air, and share the joys of living'. Welcome to Bergen, a city of traditions that is full of young spirit.

Day 9: Bergen – Sogndal (190 km)

Enjoy a breakfast at the hotel. Start your journey traveling in a north–eastern direction, until you reach the small village of Gudvangen, located at the top end of ‘an arm’ of the Sognefjord. The Sogneford is the deepest and longest fjord in the world and is known as the 'King of the Fjords'. In Gudvangen you will board a two hour long cruise on the Nærøyfjord, classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO. Continue to Sogndal and stay here overnight.

Day 10: Sogndal

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel. Today is yours to explore the beautiful area of Sogndal. We recommend a visit to the Jotunheimen National Park and/or the oldest wooden church in Norway.

Day 11: Sogndal – Oslo (350 km)

Breakfast at the hotel, before your departure to the capital of Norway. Ferry crossing from Mannheller to Fodnes. En route to Oslo, we recommend a stop at Borgund stave church – one of the most visited churches in Norway. Continue driving east through the Synnfjell mountains and the small village of Fagernes, where you will find many old rural buildings. We recommend a visit to the Eco museum of Maihaugen. Continue until you reach the biggest city in Norway, Olso, which has been Norway’s capital for more then 700 years.

Day 12: Oslo

Breakfast at the hotel and the day is free to explore Oslo. The history of Oslo dates back to the middle ages, and the first constructions date back to the year 1000. Oslo is located at the head of the Oslo fjord, and the city is surrounded by forested ridges. In 2007, Oslo was classified by ‘Readers' Digest’ as the world's second best city for appreciation of nature and respect of the environment.

Day 13: Departure from Oslo

Breakfast at the hotel. Return your rental car at the airport. Depart Oslo.
