The Munch Museum is a monographic art museum, dedicated to the life and work of the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch. In the museum at Tøyen, the world's largest collection of Munch's art can be found, with almost 28,000 works of art, in addition to personal effects, tools and even Edvard Munch's private library.

Edvard Munch was a Norwegian painter and printmaker whose intensely evocative treatment of psychological themes built upon some of the main tenets of late 19th-century Symbolism and greatly influenced German Expressionism in the early 20th century. One of his most well-known works is The Scream, of 1893.
