How Many Days to Go on a Trip to Norway

If you wish to go on a brief city break, then minimum 3 nights would suit you well, especially if you would like to visit the country's capital. You will have plenty of time to stop by the main tourist attractions, such as the National Theatre, Oslo Opera House or the Viking Ship Museum.

How to Tour Norway

The best way to tour Norway would be by train, since train travel is most effective, as it is both faster and less expensive compared to bus services.

The Flåmsbana Railway was deemed to be the greatest train ride in the World. This 20km adventure is about climbing mountains past deep ravines and along tall waterfalls to enjoy an unmatched experience. A train trip will allow you explore dramatic scenery without feeling too adventurous if you are not an outdoor person, so it is suitable for everybody.

What is There to Do in Norway

Choose one of our Norway cruises and explore the deep, clear waters of the majestic fjords or enjoy a Norway fly-drive holiday winding through spectacular mountain passes, featuring some of Europe's most dramatic waterfalls and glaciers. Or pick one of our Norway trips packages to go back in time visiting medieval churches and old wooden towns or hike cabin-to-cabin through some of the best hiking trails in the world. These trips offer the best experience during summer months for both locals and international tourists.

You can play golf under the midnight sun, ski down some of the best pistes in Europe or watch the Northern Lights in Norway draw their luminous curtains across the clear night skies and end the day sleeping on reindeer skins in a hotel made of ice.

Because of the vast coastline, seafood is an important component of Norwegian cuisine that you must experience on a trip to Norway. From fresh salmon to dried cod, it makes sense to try one of the many seafood meals that are offered on your trip. Norwegian lambs have been a large part of the meals menu and the grilled meat is delicate and succulent despite the unspoiled habitats and rich vegetation where the grazing sheep live. Their slow-cured lamb legs that have a long history dated to the time when the meat was cooked with fresh mountain air for long winters. Norway aims to achieve sustainable animal feed production and therefore offers some unusual dishes, like smalahove which includes sheep heads and salves.

Norwegian is very family-friendly in many ways, even if you don't speak their official language. With plenty of farm, theme parks & day excursions for everybody, we have something suitable for every holiday and every season. Some cities can be easily reached by walking and offer relaxation and stress-free excursions to museums and attractions.

There are also beaches and waterways, science centres and snowy activities that offer excitement, education and fun for a really invigorating holiday. It's no surprise Norway has some amazing outdoor activities. Mountains extend across all country and there are plenty of great places to go hiking, and practice sports all year long.

When is the Best time to visit Norway

In Norway springs and summers there are plenty of outdoor festivals that make it worthwhile visiting if it is what you are after. Nevertheless, Norway is fascinating on all seasons. During winter time, especially from October to March you get witness the Northern Lights, as the sky is getting a little darker at night creating the perfect atmosphere for you to enjoy such a distinctive natural phenomenon.

A trip to the north during summer allows you enjoy the midnight sun, another fascinating natural phenomenon when the sun never sets. In the northwestern part of the Arctic Circle the winter months are never entirely dark, giving Norwegian the nickname of ‘The Land of the Midnight Moon ’. July and July are the best months to visit Norway with the warmest time of year when you get to experience the famous night sun that creates the ideal environment for hiking, cycling, and kayaking at any time of the day or night.

Our tour was all we could have wished for, we couldn't find the hotels on a couple of occasions but it does help if you read the maps for the correct hotels!!" Hotels were all lovely with fantastic breakfasts, we were expecting continental breakfast so were pleasantly surprized. Only comment I would make and it is not a complaint is that Kristanson on the last night was a bit of a waste of time for it is more a family place and there really was t anything for us to do. We normally like walking around places to discover all the hidden treasures on the town but there really weren't any so we would have preferred a other night in Oslo which we loved. We would love come back to Norway, it is beautiful country but very expensive.we  had great time in Scotland and in 6 weeks we had would you beleive 2 days rain
Thank you for all the organising you did for us we appreciate it very much, and thank you for the refund, it worked out well having the case transported.
Kind regards Joan

Dear Lena

I was just looking at my holiday photographs and realised I had forgotten to write to you and thank you for all the arrangements made for our trip to Norway.

We had a very enjoyable time - we collected all the train tickets and found that everything worked like clockwork.  The hotels were all very good and so convenient for the station every time!  We particularly enjoyed the trip from Bergen to Stavanger by bus and ferry  and Stavanger was our favourite place - so pretty!

Thank you again for all your help

Kind regards

Karen

Hi Daina

My sincere aplogies for the delayed reply.

Our Northern Lights short break to Tromso, Norway in March 2016 was just awesome, marvellous and out of this world. All the experiences will go down our memory lane for the rest of our lives. We were very lucky to see the full panaromic views of the Northern Lights at two different places. Our guide Denise was just exceptional and so was the bus driver Gert. We still keep on thinking about it and looking at the photos taken.

We also experienced Dog Sledding and wow what a whale of a time my wife and I had. Everyone was so helpful, polite, courteous and went out of their way to ensure we had great time and holiday.

We would also like to thank Daina Kontrima from the kernel of our hearts for planning and organising such a breath taking holiday. She has always been polite, helpful, understanding and very efficient. We are pleased to have booked this and previous holiday with her. For both of our Norway holidays we did not face any problems and all was planned perfectly.

Daina, the above message is from both of us. Also I am attaching a few of our Northern Lights experience photos which we hope you will like.

Also could you please let us know if you cover Austria for our next holidays and would you recommend it to be visited and any other places.

Once again many thanks to you for arranging all this for us so nicely.
Avinash and Usha T

Just wanted to report in on our holiday. It was really lovely. Everything went without a hitch and we got to see the Northern Lights. Many thanks for all your help and organisation for this trip it was much appreciated and I will be sure to recommend Baltic Travel company to friends and family. I think the Northern Lights chase group were the highlight. I loved that it was a small group tour and the guy we had was friendly and helpful and personable which just made it a lovely and unique experience. Also having someone show me how to take a photo of the northen lights was great. It really made it fun to enjoy. The Reindeer Sledding was also fun and enjoyable. The Sami guides were really friendly and we got to see the puppies and dogs from dog sledding. They were so adorable.

Kind regards
Elyse

A short message to say that we had a great time in Kirkenes, and the travel arrangements all went smoothly. Thanks for all your efforts , speedy response to queries, and comprehensive information prior to departure.

We saw the Northern Lights, and really enjoyed all the activities, particularly the King Crab Safari. My wife got her wish to stay in the snow hotel and thankfully has ticked it off her bucket list now'

Mick
