Overview:

Dalarna, often said to be “Sweden in miniature,” offers a perfect snapshot of the country’s landscapes and traditions. Explore UNESCO-listed history in Falun, Swedish folk traditions in Mora, and embark on mountain adventures at Idre Fjäll, with opportunities for hiking, wildlife spotting, and immersing in Sami culture. A scenic journey to Tällberg on Lake Siljan rounds out the experience, offering charming lakeside views, artisan crafts, and relaxation before a return to Stockholm.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Stockholm 

Arrival in Stockholm and pick up your rental car in the airport. Explore Stockholm and its medival buildings, modern architecture and archipealgo. 

Day 2: Stockholm - Kopparberg (~ 225 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will start your adventure in Dalarna and drive west to the tranquil Kloten Nature Resort. Upon arrival, settle in and take in the pristine surroundings of this lakeside resort, known for its unspoiled landscapes and rich wildlife. In the afternoon, explore the area’s nature with lakes and forests. Enjoy a cozy evening in your cabin, with the option to relax in a sauna and hot tub.

Day 3: Kloten Nature Resort

Breakfast in your cabin. Spend a full day at the Kloten Nature Resort with a choice of outdoor activities. Take a wildlife safari in search of moose, beavers, and birdlife, or explore more of the region on foot. For those interested in fishing, the lakes around Kloten offer excellent opportunities.

Day 4: Kopparberg - Falun (~ 105 km)

After breakfast, drive north to the historic town of Falun, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit the Falun Mine, which was once one of Sweden’s most important industrial sites. Later, visit the Dalarnas Museum to explore local folk art, crafts, and the story of the Dala horse, Sweden’s famous painted wooden horse. Enjoy a leisurely evening exploring Falun’s charming town center.

If you’re interested to learn more about Dalarna’s mining history, we can also arrange a guided tour to the Adventuremine in Tuna Hästberg, where you get to descend 80 meters underground on the mine’s Via Ferrata climbing system. 

Day 5: Falun - Mora (~ 90 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Leave Falun and head toward Mora, a town known for the annual Vasaloppet cross-country ski race. Stop over in Nusnäs to see the famous Dala horse production, where skilled craftsmen handcraft and paint the iconic wooden horses. Upon arrival to Mora visit to the Zorn Museum, which showcases works by Anders Zorn, one of Sweden’s most praised artists. Stop by Zorn House to get a glimpse of the artist’s life and creative environment.

Day 6: Mora - Idre Fjäll (~ 160 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Depart Mora and drive north to Idre Fjäll, a beautiful mountain destiantion perfect for outdoor adventures. Upon arrival, take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Enjoy a range of activities, from hiking and mountain biking in summer to skiing and snowboarding in winter. Idre Fjäll is also home to reindeer herds and offers a unique opportunity to learn about the southernmost Sami community and their culture and traditions.

Day 7: Idre Fjäll

Breakfast the hotel. Spend the day enjoying the outdoor activities at Idre Fjäll, or explore Fulufjället National Park, located just a short drive from Idre. Hike to Njupeskär Waterfall, Sweden’s highest waterfall, and enjoy the beautiful trails that wind through ancient forests and along rocky plateaus.

Day 8: Idre Fjäll - Tällberg (~ 210 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Leave Idre Fjäll and head back south toward the picturesque village of Tällberg, nestled on the shores of Lake Siljan. Known for its traditional red cottages and artisan shops, Tällberg is a charming village. Spend the afternoon exploring local shops. Consider visiting one of the lakeside spa hotels for a sauna session or simply relax by the lake and take in the peaceful atmosphere.

Day 9: Tällberg - Stockholm Arlanda Airport (~ 280 km)

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive back to Stockholm Arlanda Airport, where you’ll return your rental car. Flight back home.
